"We Have a Whale": Once the spotters on the hillside identify a whale they radio down to the modest house in the remote fishing village of Melinka that serves as both research station and home for the 11 scientists of the Blue Whale Center. Here, biologist Juan Pablo Torres gets news of a sighting. There is no rhythm to this work: some days they will find 50 whales and other days they won't find any. Now that they know there is a whale to be tracked, the scientists will get in their research boat and head to sea. (Jeffrey Kofman/ABC News)
