A photographer witnesses how 70 years have changed some breath-taking sights.

In the 1930s mountain explorer Brad Washburn, a contemporary of Ansel Adams, set out to photograph glaciers in Alaska. Pictured is the 100-feet-high Mendenhall Glacier, which is disappearing at an alarming rate. His work has been matched frame by frame by environmental photo journalist David Arnold.
