On the campaign trail in Iowa today, one of the nine democratic candidates, Carol Moseley Braun, has dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination and endorsed her former competitor Howard Dean. We'll have the latest political news from our correspondents, Kate Snow and Dan Harris, who are with the candidates in the final days leading up to the Iowa Caucuses. Also, we'll have the final piece in our series "Who Is " profiling Dean, the former Vermont governor. Residents are bracing for a third night of arctic temperatures across on the Northeast. The mercury has dropped to zero across the region, and tonight's strong winds are expected to bring some of the coldest temperatures in 50 years. In addition to the cold, an overnight storm dropped four to six inches of snow to make the morning commute a dangerous one. NASA's Spirit rover successfully placed its wheels on Mars, after landing on the Red Planet almost two weeks ago. In several days, Spirit will begin moving around the surface and collecting valuable samples of the planet's surface material. Ned Potter reports.http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/ap20040115_1275.html

And finally this evening, we continue our series "In Honor Of," which focuses on soldiers who died while serving in Iraq. Tonight, Judy Muller has the story of Karina Lau who died with 15 other soldiers when their transport helicopter was shot down in November. She was on her way home to Livingston, Calif., to celebrate her 21st birthday. She was full of many gifts and yearned for an adventure that ultimately led to her death.
