— -- ABCNEWS Correspondent Aaron Brown anchors World News Tonight Saturday. From his base in New York, he also reports for World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, Nightline and other broadcasts.

Brown joined ABCNEWS in December 1991, and spent a year as co-anchor for World News Now, which premiered January 6, 1992.

Most recently, Brown has been integrally involved in covering major news stories, reporting on the death of Princess Diana and anchoring the coverage of the hand over of Hong Kong to the Chinese. Additionally, Brown has covered the historic South African elections; reported from Haiti on the restoration of Jean-Bertrand Aristide; covered the 1994 Congressional midterm elections; reported on the fires that ravaged Southern California in 1993; and reported on the California earthquake in 1994, the O.J. Simpson trial in 1995 and the historic tobacco settlement in 1997.

Brown joined ABCNEWS from KIRO-TV in Seattle, where he had been an evening news anchor since 1986. Previously, he spent ten years at KING-TV in Seattle as a reporter and anchor.

Throughout his career, Brown has earned numerous broadcasting awards, including two Emmy Awards, a duPont-Columbia Award and several Sigma Delta Chi awards for political, general and sports news reporting and for Outstanding Documentary.

A native of Hopkins, Minn., Brown began his broadcasting career as a radio-talk show host in Minneapolis and later worked in radio in Los Angeles.
