Explosive new allegations. A mayor now taking on New Jersey governor Chris Christie. Tonight, the mayor of hoboken, at the governor's side in this image here after hurricane sandy. But don't be fooled. There is now a huge divide between them. The mayor saying a member of the governor's staff threatened her, saying she had to support one of Christie's projects or get no federal money after sandy. As you can imagine, the governor's team is fighting back and here tonight, ABC's Ryan smith. Reporter: This weekend, explosive allegations from the mayor of hoboken, New Jersey. Claiming that governor Chris Christie's administration threatened to withhold hurricane relief funds if she didn't back a local multimillion dollar redevelopment project. The major question is, did they connect hoboken sandy funding to the Rockefeller project? The fact is that is what they did. Reporter: In an interview with CNN, zimmer claimed in may 2013, she met with the lieutenant governor, who came with a message from the governor himself. She came, lieutenant governor pulled me aside and she said, essentially, you got to move forward with the Rockefeller project. This project is really important to the governor. And she said that she had been with him on Friday night and that this was a direct message from the governor. Reporter: Zimmer claims her hard-hit town received only $342,000 of the $100 million requested. But tonight, Christie's office is firing back, saying her city has, quote, not been denied on a single grant and received nearly $70 million in federal aide. The governor hasn't spoken about the accusations himself. Instead, spending the weekend at private fund raisers in Florida. More than a dozen officials, including top Christie aides, have been subpoenaed in the bridge scandal. So far, no evidence connects Christie to any wrongdoing. As for mayor zimmer, it is the bridge scandal, she says, that caused her to break her silence. I didn't think anyone would believe me. But as I watch the coverage with the bridgegate, you do see parallels and I just felt, I had an obligation to come forward. More to come on this. And Ryan, you were telling me the lieutenant governor going to speak tomorrow? Reporter: That's right. She's expected to defend herself against these accusations. Ryan smith, thank you. Next, to the major weather
