New York. Now, a debate fueled by a person your children will know. Bill nye the science guy. When debating how the universe was started, his answer drew quite a response. Dan Harris with the science guy and the reaction. Reporter: They squared off here at the museum. A place that has been a high-tech mechanism for pseudoscience. Where they try to prove that god created the world and all its inhabitants in six days. This is the room where you see Adam and eve living alongside dinosaurs. So, when the people here announced that bill nye the science guy, host of the beloved pbs show for kids, had agreed to debate museum president ken ham. Tickets sold out in two minutes. I presume we will shake hands, the way boxers do before they go at it. Well, we're just under four hours from the debate. Reporter: As the crowd of 800 streamed in through metal detectors requested by nye, ham and his supporters prayed. Then, game time. Ham made his case that there is science to suggest that the story of genesis is literally true. I'm a science teacher. I love science. I want children to be taught the right foundation that there's a god who created them, who loves them. Reporter: Nye argued there's no way the Earth can only be 6,000 years old, as ham insists. Some of them are over 6,000 years old. How could these trees be there if there was an enormous flood just 4,000 years ago? Reporter: When it was over, no minds were changed. We are more alike than we are different. We all descended from Adam and eve. Reporter: Science may have spoken. But the debate rages on. Dan Harris, ABC news, petersburg, Kentucky.
