Reporter: This weekend an all-out battle against the elements in California. A state of emergency after lightning triggered new wildfires. And dangerous bolts across the northwest. This man in Seattle struck by lightning as he tried to capture the storm on his camera. In Washington state firefighters are getting the upper hand against a fire burned eight homes and forced the evacuation of hundreds. With this back here, this burn is very hard to defend. Reporter: Firefighters warned Joan that her home was threatened for the second time this week. Just a wall of smoke. Being blown this way. And it was fast. Reporter: It's not just fires out west.
