Turning now to the 64-year-old climber dangling two days from a granite wall when he lost his footing. New pictures of the delicate rescue. Then here is on top of it. Minutes later, larry took a wrong turn and fell. His next picture shows where he landed. Staring 10,000 feet down, stuck on a steep slick sheet of granite. A ledge with barely room for his hiking boots. I've never been in a position to say how much am I willing to do to stay alive? I quickly discovered I was ready to do anything. Reporter: He had no water, a few plants for food. He dangled off that mountain near fresno, california for 52 hours. Two sleepless nights -- he took this picture of his weiry face, dehiterated and delirious. He started a goodbye notebook to his wife and daughter. Reporter: Detailing the most difficult hours. Very tired, foggy and worst 24 hours in my life. Hope someone has the rescue squad coming. Reporter: It turned out, they did. One of them risked his own life, sprinting several hundred feet up that slick rock to save larry. The deputy made a split-second decision and made a beeline up the hill towards the victim. Just in the nick of time? I think so. Reporter: A helicopter lifted the two men to safety. After a hiking trip, larry will not need all those pictures to remember. Ryan owens abc news, california.
