Transcript for Instant Index: Stay-at-Home Moms on the Rise
Our "Instant index" tonight begins with a headline about the modern American family. The number of stay at home moms is on the rise. Three out of every ten American moms do not work outside the home. That's 29% up from 23% in 1999. Asian and hispanic families are most likely to have a mom at home. In Montana, elk this past week has more than a million followers around the world. There they were shutting down a lonely highway. One after the other crossing the road. A car in the distance has to slow to a stop. Then one tiny elk pulling up the rear finds the fence too tall. He's final -- he clears it at a pace, sprints into the distance and catches up with mom, dad and the brothers and sisters. And a new picture tonight has a lot of true believers asking if we have proof on life on Mars. Here it is. Look closely. A tiny brought light in the upper left hand corner. What is it? A smudge on the lens of the camera? Could it be some strange clue to the mystery of life? Nasa has not weighed in but we do know another camera did not capture any sign of life and as they say, the truth is out there somewhere.
