Transcript for Newtown Mother Shares Personal Grief on Political Stage
a different voice coming from the white house. Usually it's the president delivering a video address every saturday but today it was someone else, a mother who lost her son at sandy hook connecticut as the president as you've probably noticed, I'm not the president. I'm just a citizen. My name is francine wheeler. Our younger son ben, age 6, was murdered exactly four months ago this weekend. Reporter: Francine wheeler and her husband and countless others from newtown have lined the halls of congress to put a face on this newest debate on gun control. He had boundless energy long after the game was over and he couldn't wait to get to school every morning. He sang with perfect pitch and had just played at his third piano recital. Until that morning, 20 of our children and six of our educators gone out of the blue. I've heard people say that the tidal wave of anguish has receded but not for us. Sometimes I close my eyes and all I can remember is that awful day waiting at the sandy hook volunteer firehouse for the boy who would never come home. Reporter: Fe beginning of the week the families feared the senate would do nothing but lawmakers have moved forward with the debate. There is a bipartisan proposal requiring background checks. The white house argues that no voice carries as much weight as the voices themselves. Help this be the moment that real change begins. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
