Next, we take you to a smoldering scene right here in New York today. A city still haunted by the sights and sounds of 9/11. And this city heard a powerful explosion once again. Tonight, rescue teams still working to find survivors in the rubble. And ABC's Ryan smith is there. Reporter: At least a half a dozen still missing, after an explosion leveled two apartment buildings in Manhattan's east Harlem neighborhood. Family members distraught, as they desperately search for loved ones. At 9:30 A.M., residents say they felt a large blast. Then, saw thick smoke and flames. I just -- I didn't -- I went in slow-motion. And I just got out of there. That was it. Reporter: Just 15 minutes earlier, a call to a utility company. Complaining of gas-like odors. Crews were on their way. The walls started coming down. I didn't know what else to do. Just run for my life. Reporter: More than 250 firefighters working to contain the blaze. The blast, leaving at least two dead and dozens injured. Tonight, many residents without a home and wondering what will happen next. A as you can see over my shoulder, fire trucks still on the scene, as well as heavy equipment trucks cleaning up debris. Running cadaver dogs, as well.
