This evening president putin has traveled to the site of those blasts to send a message to russia and to the world that his country is ready for the games. Here tonight abc's alex marquardt. Reporter: President vladimir putin arrived in volgograd before dawn to pay his respects to the dead and wounded of this week's two suicide bombings that killed 34. "There can be no justification for crimes against civilians," he said. Reporter: The attacks have shaken russia and the world ahead of next months's sochi olympics. Putin is trying to calm those fears, vowing to "totally annihlate" the homegrown terrorists who pose the greatest threat to the games and have promised to disrupt them. The logic will be soft targets that may be closer to the actual olympic site. It's virtually going to be impossible to cover all of it. Reporter: The u.S. Is already working closely with the russians and will play a key role during the games collecting and sharing intelligence. U.S. Diplomatic security will be on the ground coordinating with the authorities but at the end of the day it's the russian's show. Alex, thank you.
