Transcript for Shootings on Kansas City Highway Thought to Be Connected
shooting spree in Kansas City, Missouri. Investigators are searching for a gunman now linking 12 cases. ABC's Marcie bonds lez on the growing urgency and the new reward. Reporter: New details about those terrifying highway and roadway shootings in Kansas City, Missouri. Police now believe 12 out of 20 shootings in the past month are connected. Investigators hoping these links will help them track down a possible serial shooter as they also now dig into their files to determine whether other cases dating back more than a year could also be linked. We'll look at the data for 2013 also. Again every day things change and we may go back further than that if we need to. Reporter: At least three people have been hurt, two shot in the legs, one in the arm, and there have been other close calls with vehicles being fired at with what police believe is a mine millimeter handgun. We were in the right lane and hit on the right side. Reporter: Investigators relying on those accounts, most of which claimed the shooter fired from inside a moving vehicle which then veered off to a nearby exit ramp or split in the road. Is he concentrating on a particular stretch of highway? That does give them sort of a finite area where a potential shooting could occur. Reporter: There hasn't been another shooting since last weekend. Still local and federal agencies taking no chances, increasing patrols, trying to calm drivers' fears and find the person or people responsible. I can stand here today and say I'm confident it will be solved. Reporter: Investigators haven't released a possible description of the shooter but there is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. David. Marcie, thank you
