Back here at home millions of Americans are braving a kind of water world. Flash floods and adding tsnado touching down. Steve osunsami with the families in the storm zone. Reporter: This morning families in Mississippi got an awful wake up call. Nine reports of tornados tearing through mobile homes and nearly a dozen people injured police are still looking for a nine-year-old girl who was swept away by rising waters. My understanding is they want to check some culverts, see if the child may be stuck in a culvert. Reporter: The rain came fast. In a few short hours more than half a foot across parts of Alabama, flooding streets in Birmingham. 911 operators were busy. The water level is rising. Reporter: Firefighters had to bring out the boats. Nearly 100 families were trapped in this apartment complex. They were freaking out huper ventilating and they were trying to make sure that everyone was up and knocking on friends doors. Reporter: Then it was time for Atlanta. Flash flooding put nearly three feet of water on several city streets. High winds knocked down massive trees, like this giant oak. Missed two homes and knocked out power to this entire neighborhood. There's still the potential of flooding tonight. New England is already soaking wet from melting snow. Steve osunsami, ABC news, Atlanta.
