Jason Ryan joined ABC News in 1998, starting in the Moscow bureau before returning to his home in Washington, D.C.
During his time at ABC News, Ryan has worked on a wide range of network shows and platforms. From 1998-2000, Ryan worked as a production assistant for "World News Tonight With Peter Jennings" and was the researcher for "This Week With Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts."
As an associate producer in 2001, Ryan worked on rotations at the White House, Pentagon, and State Department in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
Since 2003, Ryan has served as the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security producer for ABC News. He was the lead editorial producer for the news division's coverage of the 9/11 Commission, the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui, the CIA leak investigation and related trial of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. He also extensively covered FEMA in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Prior to his career in journalism, Ryan worked for two consulting firms analyzing business trends and investment opportunities in Russia and the former Soviet Union.
Ryan received a B.A. in European History -- with a concentration in Russian studies -- from Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. He speaks Russian and his hobbies include mountain biking and adventure travel.
