After all, the cost of an education has tripled in two decades. Why, because they're part of the liberal cause and, like Hollywood are protected. Another special Interest group. I've noticed the first to scoff at industries lobbing government for subsidies is academia, yet they love to defend their own industry being the recipient of government hand outs... Everybody talks about "wall street greed", what about academic greed? The cost has sky rocketed because of guaranteed money from government, in the form of subsidies and government backed loans. Could it be that there is MUCH waste? Could it be that money is misused? Why does a president of a dinky little community college earn twice or 3 times what an average middle size CEO does? Why does it need Vice Presidents, plural? Why can't it afford dorms or sports? Could it be the money isn't used to pay good quality instructors? And why is that? Could it be it spends a lot for buildings that aren't being used efficiently? What are you going to do when students give up trying to learn? After all, there are no jobs when they get finished, so no resources to pay the loans back. Wouldn't it make more sense to use computers & cut costs & hire people more dedicated than greedy? Our entire public is nuts about priorities. We don't even get decent choices of TV to watch--if we can afford the cost. Sports figures & entertainers(?) make more than doctors & have no redeeming value. Who cares who Kendra or Kim are & the size of the butts or boooosoms? Kim gets married with a zillion dollars in wedding gifts & a month later already has marital woes. Do we really care? Do we want our children seeing these pitiful creatures as role models? I will be graduating in winter 2011 from the University of Phoenix. I had to move back with my parents when I lost my job in 2008. So I decided to go back to school to get an education so I can get a job but I have had no offers come in yet and it is frustrating because I have been looking for a job but still have not found one. If I do not find a job by the time I graduate or within a year after graduation I’ll be in default of my loan. That is the reason most people go to college to get a job or a better job but in Wisconsin like other state we keep losing jobs. So my question is what can do to reverse the situation I am in. And the minimum wage jobs barely pay for books if that much. It’s hard for kids to get a minimum wage job to help pay for the cost of college.
