I have known many retirees who are fully activie and quite sharp! can’
T believe someone would assume because you retire you have no life or brains..I disagree with raising the age simply because they have squandered our money already why allow them to squander more..my mom retired at 72 my father passed away at 59,worked since he was 14, never collected his SS,and neither did my mom! How many others have passed,paid in and noone ever touched that money,it all went to the government…not right..thieves…tell them no way..

This is so democratic driven its pathetic. I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it. We have all been forced to pay into the social security and medicare program for one intention and one intention only.
And it was not so our greedy, no conscience politicians could spend it so frivously. Everyone who ever spent one dime for anything other than what it was intended for should be held legally responsible and have to put back the billions they have bilked from it. I’m telling you – THE PEOPLE ARE FED UP!!!!!!!

I’m afraid this article rings true. The Republicans have so completely ruined the economy that my savings, my home value, and probably a hundred million others have been wiped out with no fix in sight. No such thing as early retirement anymore.

What Well’s Fargo terms “outdated concept” I’d call “You guys helped run the economy off the cliff and everybody lost retirement because of it.” Note to cons – OBAMA IS GETTING LESS IN REVENUE DUE TO JOB LOSS. See, we have all this stuff already going on in government and we have to pay those bills with a smaller paycheck coming in. We need to offer some free math classes to conservatives evidently.

I totally agree. The idea of being put out to pasture, once I reach my 65th birthday (only a number), sounds ridiculous.

I disagree with Brian Levine. This country has been faulting for years. To blame this Administration, Obama, is just plan idiotic. This economy is not something that just happened since 1908. Where have you been? Look at the facts before you make such a statement. Yes, I agree, we are all suffering right now, but we akso need to look at some of the economy pitfalls that led up to this ptoblrm in the past decade or so, i.e., unnecessary wars, bail outs, etc.

Where do these lies come from. When I started working the government promised me I could retire at 62 with full benefits. The government has stolen from the SS system every year while lining their pockets. Now I can retire at 66, which you and they are trying to change to 80. “Customer Reports” government agency…..

Raising the retirement age to 80 is good for the government, the less people apply for SS the better it is, work till you die will be the new motto. People now have to work past 65 everything gets more expensive every day, yet the ones who would like to enjoy retirement are unable to do so.
