I also am a former best buy employee and I completely agree with DJ. I worked with the company for 4 years and witnessed it go downhill. I also worked for Circuit City for a season before they closed down. I feel bad for people losing jobs, but companies that are completely focused the number game, rather than employee and overall customer satisfaction, tend to lose in the end.

I actually am an employee at Best Buy and in response to those saying Best Buy has the WORST customer service, I completely disagree. I realize that certain stores may have employees that don't seem to care about the customer, however, I have worked at Best Buy for 3 years and the people I work with are some of the hardest working, knowledgeable, and dedicated people I know. My store specifically constantly receives praise from our customers simply because of how amazing our customer service is. I agree that we are in huge competition with places like Apple, Amazon, and Wal Mart, which is unfortunate, however those saying "good riddance" to us Best Buy employees because of the cuts need to get off their high horse. It's so disappointing that people are genuinely "happy" that people are losing their jobs. To say that due to customer service and high prices people should lose their jobs (especially in this economic climate) is awful.

Everytime I walk into Best Buy I feel like I'm getting ripped off. You know that you can get everything cheaper elsewhere.

As a former employee of 4 years, this makes me laugh. I bled blue and yellow, I gave my life to that job, and they gave me a measley 9.50 per hour plus a sorry when I got turned down for countless promotions I knew I had earned. I however don't laugh at the countless families who will hurt over the future jobs that will be cut.
I do not feel one ounce of sympathy for the company. For years, they've strived on pushing every promotin down the customers throat regardless if it was beneficial for that purchase or not. They say, we are noncommissioned, when they flood customers with every blue shirt in sight. It sucks when you work for a company you can not stand behind. The managers are hand picked, and furthermore, the more you suck, the more likely you are to get promoted. And Brian Dunn, if you do not believe me, stop by an Arizona store sometime, you will see what I mean.

I'm a college student and a part time worker at best buy. I treat customers with dignity. I feel like i give great advice and customer service. The only complaints I ever hear is they had to wait to talk to an associate (4 minutes at the most). If we had more employees to keep the wait down to zero, the prices would be higher. Which would cause more complaints. There is no winning with some people.

I only shopped at Best Buy once and that was enough. Anyone that has experienced trying to return an item knows exactly what I mean. If BB doesn't change the way they treat their customers there will be more closings. I am sorry people are losing their job.

I stopped shopping at Best Buy since they started charging 15% restocking fee when returning the merchandise. Costco, Sams club, Walmart, Target, etc don't charge restocking fees.

Anotherday,
one bit problem with the mix you cited is frequency. you don't buy refrigorators, freezers, and vaccume cleaners all the time. freezer maybe once in 20 years same for a refridgerator.. DVD. CD, and video games(PC,ps2,xbox etc much more frequently than the other items you cited. A slowdown would seriously affect their cash flow. I bought my computer three or four years ago. Printer 2 years old. I've been getting many movies from Amazon's download service. I just got into Ebooks, they last a little longer than paperbacks

No surprise here. I ordered a product online to be pickup up in the store. Drove 20 min. out of my way to pick it up and they did not have it. They claimed it was there earlier, but could not find it. You'd think they would offer a discount on something else for my trouble or something, Nyet! I never went back to their store full of idiots. Screw 'em. Let them die!
