Gay activists believe that no one has the right to refuse them for any reason. The bakery owners felt that their values would be conflicted, & LAB & some others forget that Christians- true ones, at least, are Christians ALL THE TIME, & Christian principles are 24/7.

An Oregon law that threatens to violates the First, or any other Amendment, is no law at all, & those who try to force people to violate their sincerely held religious beliefs in order to accomodate them simply lack understanding of what Christian principles really are, & Whose Law they are based upon.

If Oregon, as a state governing body, chooses to ignore the US Constitution, & charge these folks for refusing to violate their morals & convictions, then it is a very sad day for Oregonians!

I am a strong supporter of the gay community and equal rights for all, however, I also respect the religious freedoms of everyone. Situations such as this is where they clash and get all kinds of sticky. I believe that the baker has the right to refuse service when it coincides with his personal beliefs. I also believe an officiant should have the right to refuse to marry them if he/she feels conflicted. Through the power of the internet we can inform others in the state of Oregon that this man is against gay marriage and then consumers can make their own decisions. This is all very unfortunate.

Couple - go somewhere else.
Owners - follow the laws in the state (if you don't like them, work to change them).
Gay people (of which I'm one) - nobody owes you anything.
Str8 people - those who support us, thanks - those who don't, that's your right.
Religion in the discussion - best quote of the discussion "Wouldn't Jesus bake them a cake?"

I just don't understand how making a cake for someone has anything to do with their religious belief structure. For instance, if I told these folks that I was going to use the cake I buy from them to celebrate, pick a sin from the bible there are lots to choose from, would they not sell me that cake? Or, I'm guesing it's just same sex marraige that they have a problem with. What part of "public accomodation" do these people not understand. You're selling flour, eggs, and water for crying out loud. What difference does it make, or what business is it of yours, what people are going to do with it?

Anyone who (as posted above) "believe[s] in the right of a business owner to refuse service to anyone he pleases" means they support bringing back the "Whites only served here" signs.

Utterly repulsive. And totally un-"Christian".

Oh jesus, not THIS nonsense again.

Apparently this business's marketing is a blatant lie: they do NOT they make “cakes for any occasion.”

To be "living in accordance with his religious beliefs" means if he thinks same-gender marriage is wrong, he shouldn't HAVE one. I don't think there's a modicum of religious belief in the making of a freakin' CAKE!!! But there's a LOT of religious PREJUDICE in refusing to make one - for SOME people.

If you are a business that is open to the public, then - as the law says - you are open to ALL the public, not just the people you happen to like.

People like these 'bakers' give religion a bad name.

Who would Jesus refuse to bake for?
