Moby Goes Ambient

Moby invited us to come shoot a "seated electronic/ambient show" he did the other day at the Issue Project Room in Brooklyn. A few hundred people came out to listen to the man who bills himself on Twitter as "the little idiot" perform with a mixer, turntables and a Mac laptop. We shot this video as part of an upcoming Amplified interview segment we’re doing with him in advance of his new album, which comes out in June. I’ve been listening to it; it’s pretty damn good. As Moby signaled in a recent email, it’s not as commercial as some of his earlier stuff. There’s at least one song on there I could see being a hit, however — a New Order-esque track called "Mistake," on which Moby actually sings. You can see a David Lynch-directed video for "Shot in the Back of the Head" here.
