Japandroids @ DC9, Washington DC, July 9

From the Japandroids show at DC9 in Washington, DC on July 9th:To see British Columbian duo Japandroids – purveyors of a handful of EPs, a lauded LP entitled Post-Nothing, and, as it happens, one audacious live show – is to immediately understand one thing: this band loves to play. Guitarist and lead vocalist Brian King bounds about the stage like a happy Labrador retriever that’s somehow gotten hold of an astonishingly loud guitar, occasionally shouting in time with drummer David Prowse and pausing only to banter with the audience about his intention to Rock Out Even Harder Than Last Night In Philly. Japandroids deliver their fuzzy, uncomplicated anthems with such excitement and lack of pretense that it won’t matter whether the songs stick with you (they probably won’t); in fact, you’re not even supposed to think about it that much. Just feel the floorboards shaking and enjoy. Check out the pics below.(Luke Entelis)
