Arctic Monkeys Hit NYC

It turns out Puff Daddy is an indie rock fan. Last night, Diddy was in attendance as the Arctic Monkeys rattled the Highline Ballroom in New York City. After intermixed chants of "Diddy! Diddy!" and "Monkeys! Monkeys!," the band took the stage for their second New York show this week. On Saturday, the British foursome rocked Liberty State Park at the All Points West music festival, but last night's show was a much more intimate affair. The band debuted a few tracks off their upcoming album, Humbug, but stuck mostly to fan favorites off their first two records. "Brianstorm," the lead track from 2007's Favourite Worst Nightmare was a highlight of the night as the band rocketed through heavy riffs at a relentless pace. Too often it seems bands phone-in their live show, especially at a smaller venue than they may be used to. Lead singer Alex Turner took advantage of the ballroom, making it his duty to connect with every fan there. Let's hope a live album is in the works.(Nicholas Berger)
