So a week ago we got the great opportunity to check out the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Monticello, NY. Held in a huge faded old hotel, the three-day party is described by some as ‘indie rock summer camp.’ The Flaming Lips curated Day three of the festival, putting together No Age and Bob Mould, the Boredoms, Deerhoof, Crystal Castles and more. The first two days featured the Jesus Lizard, Animal Collective, Sufjan Stevens, Suicide, Panda Bear and a whole bunch more. David Cross curated the comedy, with shows by Eugene Mirman and other funny folks.

We talked to David and Mac from Jesus Lizard, Wayne Coyne, Autolux, Deerhunter and David Cross, all of whom will be appearing in this space in the coming weeks. Some small highlights (aside from the music) from our time there include David Yow grabbing our camerawoman, Wayne Coyne telling Dan he looks like the only one there who’d know Anderson Cooper and the incredible pork belly covered hot dogs.

Big thanks to festival organizers Barry Hogan and Deborah Kee Higgins, and to Judy at Motormouth Media. Also to Roger Kisby and Abbey Braden for photos, and WFMU for live audio tracks.
