Swag Bags Rule Ahead of the Emmys

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — It’s pretty sweet to be a TV star — scratch that, a star of any sort — in this town this weekend. Celebrity status comes with a bag of swag.

Ahead of Sunday’s Emmy Awards, a slew of retailers set up shop at suites around L.A. to gift nominees and pretty much anyone with Hollywood cred. At HBO’s Luxury Lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel today, stars from “ Entourage,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “ Curb Your Enthusiasm” and more sat down for makeup touch-ups from Loreal artists and bourbon cocktails from Basil Hayden’s. (On the menu: the True Bloody Mary and the Pretty, Pretty Good Bourbon Sour.)  Audiophiles walked away with Klipsch‘s One noise isolating headphones, sun slaves scored Solstice sunglasses, both the punctual and the not snagged fashion forward timepieces from Invicta. (The watch of the moment: Rose gold tone dial, snow white band.)

Down Santa Monica Boulevard, food reigned at Connected’s Celebrity Gifting Suite. Ben Vereen and Todd Bridges put their taste buds to the test by sampling the signature hot sauce of Costa Mesa, Calif.’s Taco Asylum. (The stuff’s made with ghost chillies: Not for the faint of heart.) Other celebs grabbed Not Your Mother’s hair care products and scored sweaters for fall from Miami-based clothier Elan.

Some stars scooped up their loot early. At Kari Feinstein’s Style Lounge in the Mondrian Hotel Friday, “Entourage’s” Jerry Ferrara picked out a pair of sterling silver hoop earrings by  Silpada for his girlfriend. Former “ Bachelor” and “ Dancing with the Stars” contestant  Melissa Rycroft hit the lounge with husband Ty Strickland in tow and snacked on cinnamon sugar popcorn from  Popcorn, Indiana.

There’s more swag to come: The official Emmy gift bag has historically held some of the weekend’s most big-ticket items, from all inclusive Hawaiian getaways to a Dyson vacuum cleaner (in gift certificate form, presumably).
