Amy Winehouse’s Dad to Pen Memoir About Late Daughter

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch has signed a deal with HarperCollins to write a book about his late daughter.  According to theBookseller.com, the memoir, called Amy, My Daughter, will arrive in the summer of 2012, and will feature Mr. Winehouse’s take on the singer’s life, from childhood through her rise to fame and her struggles with drugs and alcohol.

Proceeds from the book will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which has been established to help young people who are struggling with financial, health or addiction problems.  In a statement, Mr. Winehouse said, “I feel that I need to write this book to tell the true story of Amy and to help with my personal recovery.”  A HarperCollins exec said, “ Amy, My Daughter will be a must read for Amy’s legions of fans, and also a heart-breaking account of a father’s love for his lost daughter that will speak to any parent.”

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on July 23.  Drugs were determined not to have been a factor in her death.
