Michaele Salahi Saga: Journey Guitarist’s Ex-Wife Amber Schon Speaks Out

The Salahi saga has taken another twist.

Amber Schon, the former wife of Journey guitarist Neal Schon, has stepped into the strange story that has played out for the past few weeks in the full glare of the media spotlight, and she say she intends to use her experiences to help other women avoid the mistakes she made.

But first, a recap. Remember when White House dinner crasher Tareq Salahi said his wife, 45-year-old Michaele, was missing and he feared she had been kidnapped?  Of course, on Sept. 14, just hours after he made a public plea for his wife’s return, he learned that the other half of the “Real Housewives of D.C.” couple had infamously run away — and straight into the open arms of Neal Schon.

In a statement released by publicist Jonathan Franks on her behalf this evening, Amber Schon said she was aware of the intense media interest in her former husband’s “romantic pursuits,” adding that she had a good relationship with Neal Schon’s current wife, former Playboy Playmate Ava Fabian.

“Ms. Schon is a single mother to their two children and is also a full-time student — her ex-husband’s romantic activities are not at the top of her list of priorities. She is focused on being a good mother and protecting her children’s privacy, especially in the wake of this media circus, is of particular concern to her,” the statement said.

Fabian, who married Schon about two months ago, also isn’t happy. “This is very painful for me. I’m very hurt,” she told TMZ in an interview after the scandal broke.

Amber Schon will make “further comments” on the situation over the coming weeks, but won’t be seeking compensation for her story, Franks’ statement stressed.

“She is working hard on her education to ensure her ability to provide for her daughters in the long term,” the statement added. “At the end of the day, Ms. Schon intends to use her story to empower other women to make good relationship decisions and avoid some of the mistakes she has made.”

Tareq Salahi, 43, has filed for divorce, citing his estranged wife’s “adulterous relationship.”

She has “flaunted the same throughout the community, the nation and indeed the world, and thus caused … me to suffer great harm, humiliation, and embarrassment,” he said in a divorce petition filed just days after he learned his wife had left him.

“There is no hope or possibility of reconciliation,” he said, adding that he “has been greatly hurt and disturbed” by her actions.

And he’s not the only one. Salahi also has claimed that the couple’s Doberman Pinscher, who recently had a heart attack, was also depressed by wife’s absence.

Michaele Salahi might be losing more than her marriage by running off with a rock star. According to the Salahis’ prenuptial agreement, obtained by   TMZ, she is stripped of any rights to money or property accumulated during their marriage if she cheats, and she forfeits her right to spousal support if she moves out.
