Screen Actors Guild Nominations Announced

Nominations for the 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced Wednesday morning, and popular comedy "Bridesmaids" scored nods for star Melissa McCarthy and outstanding performance by a cast.

As expected, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio all received nominations for best male actor in a leading role, while Meryl Streep, Viola Davis and Michelle Williams were among the nominees for best female lead.

In the supporting role categories, McCarthy, Jonah Hill, Jessica Chastain and Kenneth Branagh were among those nominated.

The cast of "Bridesmaids" will be competing against casts for "Midnight in Paris," "The Artist," "The Help" and "The Descendants."

In the television category, the nominees included Kyle Chandler, Steve Buscemi, Juliana Margulies, Glenn Close, Alec Baldwin and Steve Carell, Kate Winslet, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne and Greg Kinnear.

The Guild will also honor actress Mary Tyler Moore for her career and humanitarian accomplishments. Dick Van Dyke will present her with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 29  at 8 p.m. EST.
