The trailer for season two of HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" debuted Monday to the delight of fans of the epic fantasy series.
The hit show, which is based on the "A Song of Fire and Ice" series of books by American author George R.R. Martin, debuted in 2011 to rave reviews and found an instant cult following. The show was nominated for 13 Emmy awards in 2011, including the award for Outstanding Drama Series, while actor Peter Dinklage took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as the calculating Tyrion Lannister.
The series, which deals with the struggle for power amongst several families in the fictional continent of Westeros, blends fantasy with influences of medieval and early modern history. Martin has said that he counts J.R.R. Tolkien and Jack Vance as influences.
Season Two of "Game of Thrones" debuts on HBO on April 1.
