I AM A MORMON. I have your attention, now please read :) I live in Utah Valley. I'm also a democrat who support gay rights and marriage fully. I love that they did this experiment. This valley drives me crazy. It's not my religion that causes this, its the terribly prejudice people. And it makes me sick. Anyway... I just wish I could spread that around more, the fact that my religion doesn't cause this, it's the misinterpretation of it that has caused the majority of the place I live to be so stubborn.

I only began to understand the LGBT community when I started college, I knew that gays and lesbians had a hard time and that they were just being true to themselves but it goes so much deeper. I have met so many great guys who are first my guy friends and second gay. So to see a father treating his son like he was wrong to feel that way made me sick and to see all the support coming from complete strangers was every touching. My younger sister has a friend who's brother took his life because his father could not accept him for who he was. A young life was ended because a father could not, would not open his heart and mind. I would and will stand up to any parent or person who is treating some one who is gay or coming out with anything other than love and understanding. Asking questions is normal belittling that person must be stopped.

I would like to express gratitude for those men who stepped forward and made me so proud in the "gay" segment. I am relieved to see that they would intervene and help out the young man who was telling his dad he was "gay." I especially was touched by the man who was talking about his brother being gay and stepped outside the restaurant to offer his help to the "gay" man. What a wonderful example of acceptance and compassion. Thanks, from a proud Utahn

P.S. I was also impressed by the actor Carlton and how he handled the older woman who displayed racist views. Carlton's parents should be very PROUD! What a compassionate and understanding young man.

I was so very impressed by all the men who stood up for the gay kid and spoke from the heart. Really they should be very proud of themselves for their honesty, because in the end they eventually came to realize in their own families what everyone should know, and that is that we are more the same then we are different. That is what being a man truly is about, it is defending who your family members are, seeing the loving, caring people that they have grown to be, and loving them no matter if they didn't always understand them. Look, it isn't anti-religion to realize that we have to stop culturally and religiously shaming people for who they are. Imagine if you were born left-handed and you spent your life being ridiculed, shamed, told you were a sinner by your church, and were looked at with disgust by people because you couldn't 'change' and be right-handed? When you realize your gay family and friends want exactly the same things everyone else does, just to be loved and supported for who they are, just like everyone else does. So kudos to you guys...I'd buy y'all drinks but then it is Utah, so they'd have to be non-alcoholic...

I just finished watching the part of the show with the interacial couple. I was completely disgusted at how people reacted towards the couple. I am a child of an interaccial couple who was born in the 60's and I was given up for adoption because of that, come on people get it together, colour shouldn't matter, only being love shoudl

I just want to point out that the LDS church did not allow African American's to hold the priesthood until 1978 stating they had the "mark of Cain" as the reason. The LDS church also funded Proposition 8 and I personally know of several situations where engagements have broken up because somebody admitted they were not a virgin. Like it or not, these stereotypes are valid, so I don't see why people are so offended. Be proud of your religion, but own the history and realities of it.

Also, don't ignore the positive attributes of the LDS church that were shown! The actress in the virginity scene spoke very highly of her faith. The young men who were comforting her also recited church teachings of forgiveness and love. These were just a few of the positive things that were shown during the episode. Personally, I think I have more of a reason to be offended. I was born and raised in Salt Lake and have lived here all of my life and I am nothing like the stereotypes shown. I am a liberal, agnostic, former member of the LDS church, and proud supporter of Equality Utah.

That was my grandpa and uncle that helped the gay boy and I am so proud of them! Just love them! Obviously they meant The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to look bad and in some ways they accomplished that because not everyone really understands the teachings of the church. But, I also think that we proved them wrong in some ways.

Okay all of the LDS members who are so upset and offended at ABC for the part of tonights episode where they did something on the two members of the Mormon church and the women telling her fiance' she was not a virgin and him getting very upset with her as as an attack on the Mormon church need to call down. For those of you saying "ABC would NEVER do something like this about Islamic people or people who were not white" need to get your facts straight because THEY HAVE DONE SEVERAL SHOWS ABOUT MUSLIMS AND NON-WHITE PEOPLE THAT PUT THEM IN A NEGATIVE LIGHT. If you actually listened to what the show was saying and knew the LDS beliefs you would know the two actors in this situation could still get married even if she was not a virgin. She chose to tell him before they actually got married. Would it have been better if she just kept it a secret from him and he didnt find out until their wedding night?

This was a beautiful episode! The reactions of the men and the father and son - and the man with the gay brother, helping the gay boy was absolutely heart warming and I hope that the men in that episode read this: you are angels and you did something so great. Blessings to all of you!

I agree, I always thought this show was terrible. The situations are so ridiculous and unrealistic. I also agree that the point about the show assuming that an LDS person would react that way is extremely offensive. This is something I would like to see church officials respond to but it probably isn't very likely. I also think there is a political angle being played out on this idiotic show. Hopefully intelligent Americans will see right through it, too.
