Pop sensation Justin Bieber turned 18 today, and he celebrated his big day with a very special appearance on “The Ellen Degeneres Show.”

Bieber is a frequent guest on the show and DeGeneres is a gushing supporter of his. While being interviewed for today’s show, DeGeneres told him that his manager, Scooter Braun, had a special gift he wanted to give him on the show.

“You work really, really hard and I always yell at you, ‘Don’t get anything flashy. We’re not about that. Be humble.’ And I kind of broke my own rule,” Bruan said.

Braun talked about the importance of being environmentally friendly on and off the road, as well as Bieber’s love of cars.

“We decided to get you a car that would make you stand out a little on the road, and I think you know where I’m going and you’re freaking out a little bit right now. It’s a Fisker Karma,” Braun said as the shiny black car appeared on the set. Braun said the car was a gift from him and Bieber’s mentor, Usher.

The all-new 2012 Fisker Karma is the first luxury all-electric car, valued at more than $100,000.

When a shocked Bieber saw the car, his eyes widened and he kept repeating, “That’s for me? That’s for me? That’s crazy.”

Few people have the elite car. Other owners include Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Gore and Colin Powell. It is also the car that Ashton Kutcher’s character drives on “Two and a Half Men.”

Braun talked about Bieber’s good qualities, including his dedication to charity and acts of kindness “for the right reasons.” Braun said that Bieber performed 86 shows on his North American tour and met with a Make-a-Wish child at every show. His only request when he did that? No cameras.

Bieber also announced on the show that his new single, “Boyfriend,” will be released on March 26.

The teen heartthrob has packed a lot into his 18 years, becoming a worldwide music icon and creating a media and product empire.

He has won dozens of music awards, performed for President Obama several times and released four records. He is the first solo artist ever to score three number one albums before his 18th birthday.

And if that wasn’t enough, Bieber’s 2011 3-D concert film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never became the highest-grossing music concert film since 1984.  He’s has also made acting appearances on CSI, guest-starred on Saturday Night Live, popped up in the opening montage of the Academy Awards last weekend, and proved his comedic skills on FunnyorDie.com.

Discovered five years ago through homemade YouTube videos, he’s racked up 17.8 million Twitter followers and 40.8 million “likes” on Facebook.  In July 2010, his video for “Baby” became the most-viewed video in YouTube history, and as of February 2012, it had more than 700 million views.  His official YouTube channel has had 2.3 billion views.

He also has a fragrance, a line of Hallmark greeting cards, trading cards, books, dolls and a singing electric toothbrush.

Despite all that success, Bieber has so far managed to avoid any true personal scandals.  There have been no DUIs or drug busts, he has a great relationship with his parents and his family, his relationship with Selena Gomez appears to be solid, and the paternity lawsuit he was hit with last year is widely believed to be a fabrication on the part of the woman who filed it.

Speaking to V magazine earlier this year, Justin talked about how growing up might affect his music.  “People need to know I’m not a kid anymore,” he said.  “But at the end of the day, I’m not completely grown-up.  I’m still learning…I’m never going to make myself so the kids and the parents don’t respect me….I don’t want to start singing about things like sex, drugs and swearing.”

He added, “I’ve got a lot of work to do…I don’t want people to just think of me as a teen sensation….I want to transition, and become the greatest.”

seriously…. when he could afford all the cars he wants.. how about giving more help to the poor kids who can’t even afford bus money… or the schools that make the kids bring their own pencils, paper and crayons etc….

Is it just me, or does the Fisker Karma look an awful lot like a four-door Corvette showing off its braces?

Lori, he donates a lot of his time and money to various charities, INCLUDING *Pencils* of Promise, so that point is invalid.
You may not like him, and may diss the kid, but please don’t do so with absolutely no background knowledge.

Lori, did you not see the show? This was a gift for JB for all the charity work he does. His manager gave it to him. Yes, he can buy anything he wants but from what Ellen said, he’s usually too busy doing things for other people that he neglects himself. I thought it was very touching.

Hello Ellen, I’m 59 years old and I have never owned a new car in my life (hint hint)!

I’m 55 and never got anything like that car, and never will, Wow. I couldn’t afford the insurance premiums let alone the car! I cannot imagine how this kids life has changed. Singing on street corners to superstar and only 18.

DRIVE SAFELY!

Lori… I don’t know what school you went to but my parents had to provide all my pencils, crayons, scissors, notebooks, folders, everything all through elementary, middle, and high school. We never got free stuff from our school.

This kid works so hard and he has a good heart. He visited kids with health problems and give money to charities. I hope he’ll stay that way. Happy birthday Justin, we wish you all the best.

When I was a kid, we didn’t need a two page list of school supplies. Pencils, paper and a few folders, that was all we needed. I have never owned a new car, but I am happy for Justin, he is a very sweet guy and who doesn’t love presents!!!!

Hey! Anybody! My birthday is in September!

That car is not the first all electric luxury car, the Tesla roadster existed years before that.

Posted by: Evan Lewis | March 2, 2012, 1:35 am 1:35 am

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST LUXURY ALL_ELECTRIC CAR!!!

Look up the Tesla Roadster. It has been out for years. Fisker is behind the curve and you should educate yourself before you make a claim like that.

Was this car from the taxpayers who funded the company?

Posted by: Common _ Sense | March 2, 2012, 6:57 am 6:57 am

I can not believe Ellen did this… RIDICULOUS! He has plenty of money he could buy it himself. Ellen should have given the money to a charity in his name…..

Posted by: Andrew | March 2, 2012, 8:49 am 8:49 am

@Andrew,
The car was given by his manager and Usher not Ellen.

Posted by: leanne | March 2, 2012, 12:57 pm 12:57 pm

And why is this considered newsworthyy? I and a lot of other people don’t really care about what kind of car he got and how much it costs and who gave it to him.

In this great scheme of things you’ll receive a B- for effort. Where exactly you lost everybody was in all the facts. You know, people say, details make or break the argument.. And it couldn’t be much more accurate right here. Having said that, permit me say to you precisely what did work. Your authoring is incredibly convincing which is possibly why I am taking an effort in order to opine. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, although I can easily see a jumps in reason you make, I am not necessarily confident of just how you appear to unite the details which in turn make your final result. For right now I will yield to your position however wish in the near future you actually link your dots better.

Not bad, but Lil Wayne is no lupe! The album is entertaining but it lacks provocative lyrics and interesting concepts. But there are some awesome beats and songs on this album!
