Damn haters ! U all sound so damn ignorant making ur stupid negative comments. If the reason was being pulled over was an illegal turn then why'd the cops apologize and not cite him??!!

Sounds like he was really mad because the 2 original cops didn't recognize him and bow down at his feet.

Are you guys kidding me? He is guilty as charged... When are people going to get over the race issue. It isnt about race... What Perry did was wrong, what the officers did was by the book end of story. You can portray it anyway you want But your personal line of sensativity is just that... Get over the Race issue!

Had that black cop not shown up there is no telling what they would have done to him. I'm Latino and I have been through that type of stuff before. I know its hard for white folks to understand that this can happen in America but it happens everyday. Sometimes we get the hell beat out of us for no reason at all it's like it's a game to them; like it's funny to scare the hell out of someone.

I live in the Atlanta area, and two years ago (in that same Greenbriar area) I also got a ticket for making a left turn from the right lane...and I had to pay the fine. Sounds to me like the only "profiling" here is that Tyler Perry didn't get a ticket because he's famous and rich.

Some of your responses always jump to the conclusion that because he is a celebrity and he is black that his ego has led him to believe that he should be above the law. Tyler Perry stated he was at fault for the illegal turn, however the extra harassment by the police was not necessary. The banging on the window, reaching inside his car to grab what they thought was a key to turn off the ignition, however was not a key. He asked repeatedly for the officers to write him a ticket, but no they decided to continuously harass the man. But oh no, as soon as they find out who he was, they became apologetic. For what reason? If their procedures were correct and by standard, why apologize. Still give the man a ticket for the illegal turn and call it a day. If he was suspicious for something else, haul him in. If your being questioned by one officer and the other walk over to the other side and started banging on your window, how the hell would you react. He never got defensive. If his car needed to be search, why not ask him to step out. He admitted his guilt, he asked for the ticket. And he never said, "Do you know how I am." Read the entire post before you want to pull in the entire Rainbow Coalition. If those people make you sick, then Im sure what your type of people do makes them even sicker.

Debra,

While I do believe that blacks can be profiled while driving, I think in this case it does not seem like that happened to Tyler Perry. It seems like he was treated that way because he made a dangerous move.

I was almost hit once when crossing a street on foot by a kid making a sudden u-turn, and as I was running back to get out of the way, a bicyclist flying a long almost hit me, and also almost fell off his bike. When someone does something unpredictable, the police who stop them are likely to be unhappy. A cop once also stopped me and really chewed me out for going around the white line on the side of the road as I started to go through an intersection.

And if someone does something like that turn he made, the police also have to know why they did it. They can't just let the person go with a ticket. They might be unable to drive safely and could do other unsafe moves. When he told them he was concerned he was being followed, that can be paranoia, so they needed to know why he was concerned about being followed. And, I read a story that said that tinted windows can be illegal in Georgia, depending on the circumstances (perhaps maybe you need a permit). But a second officer coming along would knock on the window to have him roll it down so he can see and hear inside. That way they're both observing the guy. So in this case, it really doesn't seem like the treated unfairly.

if you people would read his blog... i never saw anywhere that he stated he shouldn't have been pulled over, or that he shouldn't be ticketed if that's what the police wanted to do... he also never used the 'do you know who I am?' card... he is complaining about the way the 2 officers talked to him and treated him until the 3rd officer showed up

please read his original email before making judgment

White people at it again. Just recently, I was pulled over by two white cops and they threatened me they'll plant 'STUFF' in my car if I ride through their parish again. This happened to by brother as well.
Racism will ALWAYS be here as long as white people are here.. Sad, but the truth.
