Supermodel Heidi Klum has officially filed for divorce from singer Seal.

Klum filed the divorce papers Friday afternoon in Los Angeles, according to court records cited by The Associated Press.

Klum's petition cited "irreconcilable differences."

They were married in 2005 and have two sons and one daughter. Klum has another daughter from a previous relationship.

Klum is seeking custody of their children and visitation for Seal, the AP reported. An agreement has also been reached on how they will divide their finances, according to court papers.

The couple confirmed their separation in January.

"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," the couple said in the statement in January.

Shortly after the split, Seal told CNN's Piers Morgan that he and Klum encountered problems but he still loved her.

"I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other," he said.

Last month, Klum spoke for the first time about the split, saying the situation was difficult, but she did not reveal the reason for the separation.

"People don't need to know who did what," Klum told Elle magazine. "I don't want to talk positively or negatively about the ups and downs that we had. Every couple goes through things. Unfortunately, we're in the public, so the highs are out there. But I don't think it's necessary - especially for our children - to have the lows being printed in magazines and talked about."
