This whole thing, including the death of Whitney, is a horrible event. The family is right to do what they are doing and they should force the event to be held in New York or even New Jersey.

Leave Los Angeles out of the picture since many people there hated or envied the woman.

Actually Glen K, Whitney Houston WAS a superstar in her own production. She was a superstar and “Sparkle” was HER PRODUCTION. She was the executive producer of the film.

Furthermore, the producers have stated this story is a lie.

I would guess that regardless of whether she is in the movie or not- it will go from theatre to DVD within a month or two at bestl Whitney had her day in the sun and Jordan Sparks is too far removed from her American Idol fame to carry a movie the distance. She was the DIva- and her family should just sit back – be thankful the movie wasnt shelved and enjoy her last performance.

I am an avid Whitney Houston fan. I think the family needs to let the premier of the movie go on as planned. Ms.Whitney planned this event around her birthday to celebrate her joyous comeback as an artist of the entertainment industry. The family will gain from the royalties of the movie. This is the time for the world to celebrate her life and show her the love that was always there. I personally look forward to watching Sparkle. I still miss her very much and I wish the world and the media would let her rest in eternity.

To Ms. Whitney Houston’s family: Please stop with all the extra drama around her tributes and her projects.

I wish the family peace, and the movie success. Individuals will continue to be negative because that is all they know. I love how individuals judge others as if they are flawless. The individuals who are negative probably drink and smoke as well; you’re not that important thats why you didnt make headlines with your issues. Peace and love to Whitney’s family and the Cast…..I will be in attendance when the movie is released:)

If Whitney were alive, then the movie premier on her birthday would be a joyful thing. The whole notion of the location of the premier due to the location of her passing seems trite, even odd and unlikely. As a matter of fact, all of the details of the family’s discontent (as quoted) seem ridiculous. I choose to believe none of what’s printed here, and just wish the family and fans well as they’re healing from the loss.

the movie was made due to houston’ involvement. it was her and debra martin chase’s project from the get go. and her being an addict has nothing to do with it.

My heart goes out to Whitney’s family. I know their hearts are still very fragile. I understand why they are against the movie premiering near her birthday. They probably want to have a few tributes in her memory and have that special time to themselves.

However, could it be that they want to promote their new reality show around her birthday by doing tv and radio interviews? Or is it that the family think the Sparkle movie producers will exploit Whitney’s memory and gain a huge profit?

From my understanding, the premier had always been set for August (around her birthday), which probably was a clever decision made by the producers prior to Whitney’s death.

I hope the family will not intrude and will allow things to happen as planned. I think it’s a great time to introduce the movie to all of Whitney’s fans.
