"Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson is engaged to longtime boyfriend Justin Mikita, the actor announced today.
"It's true. I popped the big Q!" Ferguson, 36, says in a video for Tie The Knot, the couple's line of bow ties that benefits gay rights organizations.
"And I said yes," Mikita says as his pops into the video.
In the video, Ferguson begins by singing a song about all of the states that allow gay marriage, and explains that the profits from the bow tie line will go to organizations working toward marriage equality.
"We want our interpersonal relationship to be acknowledged in a union formalized via a wedding ceremony," Ferguson says in the video. "But we're just like millions of Americans who are denied the basic civil rights to marry the person that we love."
Ferguson plays one half of a married gay couple on ABC's "Modern Family." He recently received his third consecutive Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
