To be fair, it’s not exactly a well-known fact that it was racist. The association’s been obscured over the centuries to the point that it carries the idealistic message of success and prosperity. It’s an easy mistake to make. Should have done their research, but yeah.

That was no apology, that was “I got caught, I got called a name I didn’t like, and *I* was hurt”, he didn’t care that he hurt others! And The Gap has YET to make a public apology. Instead, they blocked people from their facebook page who were RESPECTFULLY posting. That statement The Gap released wasn’t an apology, and it was cut and pasted to EVERYONE.

So the designer was like “I was hurt to be called a racist because I’m not!” Well, buddy, you were so keep your white tears to yourself and check your privilege! Ugh.

As a Native American who has had her culture stolen because of the fear instilled into my Native American family, this shirt is really messed up and the designer’s response AND apology is shameful.
