An overall LEGENDARY fundraiser for a worthy, ethical group of people, the ROBIN HOOD FOUNDATION. My personal kudos to 1. Alicia Keys for “holding the fort” as the only featured female performer. I plan to see her LIVE next chance I get and 2. Chris Martin of COLDPLAY, and his pleasant surprise performance with MIchael Stipe. I agree with most of the comments re: Kanye West….rap does NOT (in my opinion) translate well in big arenas. He was energetic, but his sound was “rough”. The old time Brit rockers love New York and vice versa.

I am still disappointed in Bruce Springsteen for the way he continually snubbed Governor Christie, until Governor Christie sucked up to President Obama after the Sandy Storms. That was so hypocritical. He helps a lot of people and raises a lot of money and awareness — but his election behavior changed forever my opinion of him as a live-and-let-live troubador.

Did all these songs listed on the playlist actually make it on the air? I didn’t get a chance to watch it all but saw bits and pieces throughout the night but I thought I saw the whole last part with Paul McCartney and I don’t remember him doing Helter Skelter.

Add in Lenny Kravitz (as suggested above), and add in Led Zeppelin (or at least Jimmy Page), and cut out Mr. Autotune Nobody, Kanye, and obviously have the Stones play a real set with sincere energy, and then it would be tops. But hey, hope it helped the cause, and I surely hope (but somewhat doubt) that real regular suffering Sandy victims will get this money.

I love them also, but there wasn’t much to their brief photo-op performance last night, whereas others, especially The Who, gave it tons of energy.

Bon Jovi and Billy Joel put the most life into their performances. The Rolling Stones acted and then proceeded to vocalize as though they were “forced” into their appearance. I was really surprised by them. I guess they are just tired and grouchy. Thought the Kanye booking was really out of place. Lenny Kravitz would have been a perfect fit for this ensemble of legends. Gee, Paul, I thought with your coming up last, there would be a big finish with everyone. Nope, the end was very anticlimatic. (And please do not every sing that syrupy, sappy “Valentine” song again.)
