Charlie Sheen is apologizing for a homophobic slur he made Friday at the opening of his new rooftop bar in Mexico.

“I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone,” he told TMZ Sunday. “I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp.”

Sheen’s rep was unable to confirm the details of what Sheen reportedly said, but referred to his statement to TMZ when asked for a comment.

TMZ posted a video purportedly of Sheen on stage introducing the opening acts at his Epic Bar on the rooftop of the four-story El Ganzo hotel near Cabo San Lucas.

“How we doing? … Lying bunch of ******* how we doing?” he says on the video.

Sheen promoted the bar’s opening and special guest performer Slash, former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, on his Twitter page, Friday.

Later he touted Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s appearance at the grand opening.

“From Boyle Heights 2 Mayor of LA..! …. Antonio Villaraigosa knows how to party!” Sheen tweeted Saturday, along with a photo of himself, grinning, with his arm slung around the mayor, also flashing a toothy grin.

The photo was later deleted from Sheen’s Twitter feed.

Villaraigosa’s press secretary declined to comment on the photo, telling ABCNews.com only that the mayor is in Mexico until Jan. 2.

I guess when you read the comment, it IS possible he meant to say maggots… which begs the question: why was he calling them maggots? Was that supposed to be a back-handed term of endearment for those who came out to support his opening night? Either way, kind of lame… kind of Charlie. LOL

I wish Charlie and Lindsey would marry and ride off into the sunset–they deserve each other and we would have peace and quiet about them.

And he makes it WORSE by making another homophobic slur in his “apology” (“I have a lisp”).

What a douche.

Nice one Charlie. You meant just what you said. Do not be ashamed to call a maggot a maggot.

It’s okay to slander people’s faith by taking their God’s name in vain all over the place – but one cannot possible utter the “f” word that Sheen did without an outcry and outrage. Go figure on the crappy hypocrisy that exists in this nation. Neither of these things should be acceptable but somehow, using God’s and Jesus’ name as curse words or worse – is totally acceptable and pushed in books, TV’s, on our school grounds and in movies. Disgusting. My daughter’s young adult books love to use these words over and over again and I think it’s a requirement for all newly written books.

There have been many times I’ve mispoken because I got ahead of myself in what I was trying to say. Case in point: When I attempted to say “he, she, or it” during a conversation it came out “he sh*t”. And I did it again when I tried to say it correct myself. I can readly believe that Sheen tried to say something like “freaking maggots” and it came out the that way it did.

If Charlie didn’t have a daddy named Martin, he would be parking cars.

When did it become a crime to call a spade {A SPADE}. OH YEA ONLY THE U.S. news media.

It’s not okay to use the f word because of it’s connection to the gay community but it’s okay to use mothers in profanity and completely disrespect people’s faith by using Jesus’ name and God’s name in library books, TV, on our streets and from the mouths of parents. Go figure on the hypocrisy in this nation where some groups are “protected” and others are treated with contempt and worse, encouraged by the media to do so. My child who believes in the gentle loving kindness of Jesus reads Jesus’ name in her young adult books taken out in libraries like Jesus is some kind of crappy man worthy of his name being used as a disgusting swear word. Why? Why doesn’t society condemn this instead of just the f word the gay community hates. Both are wrong but only one has the rage and outcry against it. Both should be strong condemned and not used in movies, books and from the lips of adults ever.
