Ok as a right thinking African American I have this to say. Kramer was funny in Sienfled no doubt. That's why it is so painful to see Richersons meltdown. He is boarding on being mentally unstable. That is why he was brillant in Sienfeld and that is also why he melted down at the Laugh Factory.
Deep inside him dispite his great fame is an insecure individual. Deeper inside him is a lil racist. This does not make him a bad person, just flawed as we all are.Hollywood types are at the top of this list.
We ALL have these traits, If squeezed properly they will surface. His punishment is living with this for the rest of his life. you can see it in his eyes. He single handedly derailed his own career at its pinnicle and is a disgraced man regardless of any attempts at a comeback. Despite his racist rant, I feel sorry for this man. He will never enjoy the fruits and fame he once acheived. Prey for him daily and let this be a lesson. Taste your words before they come out of your mouth.

Everyone judging Michael should watch the online Seinfeld Show "comedians in cars getting coffee" Michael talks about it and you can see in his eyes he truly is sorry and that that rant doesn't define him at all. Michael made a mistake of making those rants but that doesn't make him a racist guy, you don't see him everywhere going on and on with racist stuff like other celebrities like Ted Nugent who regardless are well accepted. Imagine how it would be if people defined you for your most embarrasing/ terrible mistake in your life, people should give other people second chances specially when they make mistakes.

I loved him as Kramer - he was funny. As far as the racist comments, they were very inappropriate. However, I've heard many black entertainers make racial comments about white people - joking and in serious situations. No one ever makes an issue of it. Chris Rock is notorious for those type of statements. I'm sick of people acting as though racism only runs in one direction! If you're going to hold a white entertainer responsible for those types of comments, then Chris Rock and others should definitely be called out for their racial slurs against white people.

What fascinates me with people in the Hollywood community (I'm tempted to say America in general) is how they shun a person for losing his cool ONE time in public and going on an angry rant, while OTHER celebrities can RAPE (ex. Mike Tyson) or BEAT UP their women, and be as popular as ever. The double standards is way beyond ridiculous and disgusting.

He's clearly a liberal, so he can't be a racist. However, if his Dad had said something in the 80's, or he said something in the 90's one time, he would never, ever, ever have lived it down. If he were a conservative, that is.

Just look at all the stupid, racist things Biden has said in the last 5 years. No one will bring it up, and it never gets reported. He just called Obama a "homeboy" 3 weeks ago. 'Nuff said, my point is proven.

It's great to see Michael Richards back on TV again--in addition to his role as Kramer on "Seinfeld", he was also absolutely zany (along with Fran Drescher and others) in the Weird Al '80s spoof "UHF". It's unfortunate what happened in 2006--but at least his pal Jerry Seinfeld helped him out by getting him on Letterman where he was able to apologize to the country. I wish him the best of luck.

I don't like people like SUPERJ who are going to focus on an incident & want to exploit it...all for what? perpetuate hate? who needs that? geez get over superj. go hate somewhere else. I want to laugh. Michael Richards is funny as hell! I can't wait to see him again on tv.

I find it interesting that if one goes off on a clearly racist rant and reveals themselves to harbor truly racist feelings that some feel they are beyond redemption. Here's the rub folks, everyone on the planet has or will have said or felt something racist in their lives. Mr Richards is no different.

The man apologized. The man clearly does not believe what he said anymore. And the man hurt nobody.

If he'd have lynched someone, if he had gotten someone arrested for a crime they didn't do, or if he discriminated against someone in the workplace...I would have little sympathy for him. But, he went off on a very unfunny and racist rant. It was not right, but it was much more right than the scenarios I posited above.

Remember, when you point your finger at someone, there are always three pointing right back at you.
