Anne Hathaway Says She Lacks ‘Sex Appeal’

Anne Hathaway strikes a glamorous pose on the latest cover of Harper’s Bazaar’s UK edition, but she certainly doesn’t consider herself sexy.
The 30-year-old actress says she’s no Rihanna. “I’m not Rihanna,” she said in the February issue. “I’m not cool. When people come to me in the street, they often want a hug not a photo, and they want that because they like my work.”
“For a long time it was me and [my manager] against the world,” the “Les Miserables” star said. “I was seen as this bizarre-world, good-girl cartoon that I in no way identified with – very vanilla, very sweet, very accessible and not interesting. I had no grit, no sex appeal.”
This isn’t the first time Hathaway has waxed over her looks.
In the January issue of Glamour magazine, the actress revealed that her obsession with being thin is a source of “shame” and said she constantly worries about her body.
“I still feel the stress over, ‘Am I thin enough? Am I too thin? Is my body the right shape?’” she says. “There’s an obsessive quality to it that I thought I would’ve grown out of by now. It’s an ongoing source of shame for me.”

She’s right. No appeal at all, period. The biggest turn-off has to be everytime she opens her dumb mouth.

She totally lost all her sex appeal (at least to men) when she cut her hair and lost the weight for Les Mis. It is tragic. Maybe women find her cute, but for us, it is very sad. I hope she’s able to recover.

I think she is a very attractive woman, but she is right, she isn’t “sexy”. She could change that though, “sexy” comes from an attitude, not a look.

She was quite fetching in that Prada Devil movie, tho.

If she thinks she’s short on sex appeal, then she is. Sex appeal is rooted in how you view yourself. She’s certainly not unappealing – I’ve seen her photos…

Fantine was a skeletal wreck with a hideous haircut. Hair grows and the Hathaway’s weight can come back if she lets it. There are some seriously hot actors who change their look for roles so much that they look either as if they’ve summered at Dachau or as they’d eaten tiramisu for breakfact, lunch and dinner washed down with vodka and heavy cream. What’s the deal? If she doesn’t think she’s hot, she doesn’t. But that shouldn’t be confused with a her approach to her acting gigs.

She is not well, this is the third article that I have seen in the last 2 months where Anne Hathaway has been very critical of her looks. She is insecure and unfortunately is coming from the same unhealthy mindset as other women, not just celebrities, who think their physical appearance defines them (think Demi Moore?) and determines their worth. I hope she becomes comfortable with who she is, she is lovely but she is calling out for validation from the masses….perhaps an unwitting victim of the weight of her own celebrity status.
