In a conversation with Oprah Winfrey set to air Sunday, David Letterman says he has no one to blame but himself for the 2009 sex scandal in which he admitted to having affairs with multiple “Late Show” staff members.

“I feel better about myself, my relationship with my wife is never better, and it’s just because I want to be the person I thought I was and probably was pretending I was,” Letterman says in a newly released  clip from the upcoming episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”

The late-night host adds, “I hurt a lot of people, I have no one to blame but myself.”

Letterman revealed the affairs in an on-air statement on Oct. 1, 2009, after a former CBS News producer attempted to extort $2 million from him.

As previously reported, Letterman also discusses his rivalry with Jay Leno during the interview, which airs on OWN Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.

Um..well who the hell else could he blame?!?!?

Letterman is now a has been who barely ever was!

Taking responsibility for one’s actions is a dying art. Congratulations Dave you rock.

He is, without a doubt, the funniest buck-toothed comedian I’ve ever seen! Keep trucking, Dave.

What a mo ron Letterman is.
I watched his monologue a couple days ago, and it was not funny, more political.
Paul Schaeffer, his almost 30 year companion on the show has recently stated that in all the time he has worked with Letterman, he has never had any contact out of the show with Letterman, even though he sought to be friends.
What a sad, pathetic man Letterman is.

Dave, learn from Leno. Keep your mouth and pants closed.

Letterman is such a liberal hypocrite! He constantly ridicules others for affairs and he had his own! Not to mention he calls others “dumb”, and he on air said a mountain lion was a member of the canine family.

And Paul Schaefer is a human echo – always repeating everything Letterman says.

I watched Letterman twice. Both times he had an attractive woman on the show and he acted like an ill -mannered 13 year old twerp. Evident of the lack of proper up-bringing and he hasn’t learned much or matured much since. His behavior toward the women was so bad that I lost respect for those women who would lower themselves to be on his show.

How big of him. Who ELSE would he have to blame? That smirk on his face completely undermined any credibility in his photo op attempt at damage control.

Ahh, David Letterman. A man who optimizes the definition of modern secular “freedom”. Which is nothing but Nietzsheian self aggrandizement. He is a man not bound by God under the auspices of good and evil. As he is Beyond good and evil. His decisions are bound by his personal and superior intellect and not bound by those trivial religious contrivances of the peasantry. And His OW interview is nothing but his notice to all of us that he has been judged for his actions and judged by the only person worthy to judge them. Himself….

Remember Letterman’s outrage and nasty jokes about Bristol Palin? All the while he had a son OUT OF WEDLOCK at the time and the MSM never mentioned that. He’s a jerk BUT he is liberal and teflon.

And yes Dave Letterman fits Michael Savages monicker for most comedians, “A Stand-up Stalinist”.

Why is this even being discussed? This is old news…..way old!

He’s too old, too perverted, and not funny. He needs to retire.

Paul Shaffer used to talk more, but his comments were usually wittier and funnier than Dave’s jokes, which obviously made Dave angry. So, Letterman started over-talking Paul, and shutting him off, giving him death stares, etc… So, about the time that Paul lost his hair, Dave completely started ignoring Paul’s comments, and relegated Paul to being his echo.

Maybe Letterman is “all that”, but he sure is a rude, egotistic, deprecating person who seems to not get along with anyone. His comedic material is funny but not THAT funny. Leno, Fallon (whose standup opening is getting shorter and shorter and less funny every year), Kimmel (who has the best standup material and longer than any other night host) are all more fun to watch than Dave.

I, for one, am glad Dave stopped throwing the pencil and notes all over the stage (never found that funny at all) and pressuring his female guests to take off their blouses, specially to that Garth woman.

I watched Dave from the beginning of his show, but it has been many many years since I watched regularly. The only time I tune in is when the other shows are in hiatus and are repeats.

I wish Dave good luck in his future endeavors, but I do not like the guy he portrays on TV.

Why wouldn’t he feel good about his present life? He screwed around for years and then did not suffer a divorce where his wife would get 1/2 of everything

Posted by: vissionquest | January 5, 2013, 10:07 am 10:07 am

Good for him? That is the right thing to do, why is it news that he is finally being a man and standing up to what he did?

Posted by: darthzavros | January 5, 2013, 10:32 am 10:32 am

He’s so “liberal”. Everything is wonderful as long as everything is going his way. Life is good.

There may be some people who like his comedy.
He has the money and he does what ever he feels right.
Majority of people however dont like these perverts

I used to be a big fan of Letterman. Ever since I saw him as a guest host for Johnny through Late Night and after he got his show on CBS when NBC made the poor decision for Leno over him to replace Johnny. He had that Midwestern charm and unique humor. When he became a shill for liberal democrats a few years ago, he lost it all including his humor. I have no idea why he did that except as an attempt at job security by sucking up to the deranged, political elitists in media ruining our country. A complete 180 degree turn in my opinion of him.

HANKREARDEN82 – I agree. Letterman became a shill for liberal Democrats in recent years so he could better pander to the liberal New York elite. I’ve lost all respect for him and hope he retires soon. He is no longer the least bit funny, and merely anoying. Since Paul is not even his friend, I wonder if he has ANY friends in the entertainment industry. He just seems like a lonely, arrogant man.
