“The Great Gatsby” may be set in the 1920s, but the 2013 film adaption is getting a modern twist.
Jay-Z will be co-writing the original musical score for the film directed by Baz Luhrmann, who also directed the period films “Romeo & Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge.”
The rapper’s producer-songwriter, The Bullitts (real name: Jeymes Samuel), broke the news on Twitter.
“Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming#CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!” he tweeted Dec. 30.

Maybe the score will be ‘too dope’ for words, but I won’t know because sadly, this film looks ‘too dopey’ to watch. Bon voyage though! (and please take Jay-Z, Beyonce and Lil ‘Beyonce with ya!)

this is simply disgusting…. it was one thing when they just ruined classic songs by making a crappy remix but now they have to ruin classic pieces of literature too? I guess nothing in this world is sacred anymore.

WOW way to ruin a classic. I share the sentiment above – F. Scott Fitzgerald is rolling over in his grave. Why can’t we respect the past masters? Jay Z. is no Fitzgerald.
