Plus I can't help but make a connection between the increasing sexually "loose" state of society and the increasing rate of divorces. It seems to me that rather than finding such an increase of satisfaction and "compatibililty" by "testing" out the waters sexually, a lot of people seem to be looking for bigger and better and can't seem to commit to one person. I think many of those people will look back later and realize they didn't have it so bad before.

(And none of that even discusses the "sociopathic manifestation of idiocy of religion" that Offsuit mentioned). Which...now that I've brought it up....I do believe the most important reason for abstinence before marriage is the fact that sex is the act through which human life is created....not something to be treated casually if you ask me!

I never comment on these types of things, but couldn't NOT after reading all of these comments. It is apalling to me the way that people seem to feel about sex these days. Sexual compatability is something that can be learned together as a couple as long as you love each other and are committed to each other. It shouldn't be about how "good" they are in bed....if you are married for life and truly love each other...you can learn together to make it good. You can tell plenty about your romantic connection in ways other than sex, and if they are attracted to each other and have that romantic spark, they'll be just fine. Not to mention the fact that if you save yourself for the person you marry, you won't have multiple other people to compare them to. It will be all they know and it WILL be good because of a much deeper level of intimacy. Sex is not just about technique, it's about love and intimacy. I really respect them for their decision, and the world would be much better off if more people did the same.

From my perspective, I’ve lived life kind of selfishly for a long tim.." --- uh huh. "selfishly" can mean alot of things. So you dont let wifey see how you do in the bedroom before you marry her. I'm oh so suspicious we may be having a problem there, so let wifey find out after she's married you. eeh yup. perhaps you're still selfish, then?

a supposed “bond for life”, without fully exploring their sexual compatibility, is clearly insane.-----absolutely. I agree. Sex isn't wrong,...it's just complicated. It brings with it vulnerabilities, both emotional and physical and you can get hurt. Well, folks, you can get hurt with many things in life which is why if you're a mature adult, you learn how to MANAGE your sex life. Every relationship has sex as part of it. On average we all have 2 kids, average, so that means we have sex two times for kids, the rest is all part of maintaining the bond in a relationship. You cannot have a healthy marriage, a healthy relationships, without sex. period. It some couples must, due to illness, whatever, it's a struggle! It can be done, perhaps, but you dont walk into a lifetime commitment completely ignorant on a HUGE slice of your life. Idiocy is being kind.

With this being a "very" personal and private topic that one would expect is something to be discussed only between the couple themselves, I question if this was something Sean wanted to openly share with the general public, or was something the media reported on and Sean felt he then had to clarify? I do respect implicitly this is the private decision of the couple, yet even as a very traditional middle aged wife/mother, I do feel intimacy is a significant core of marriage. Thus, for each partner,as well as together as a couple to know if they are very compatible in this area, can prevent major marital issues from developing in the future.

The notion that not having sex is somehow virtuous is without question the single most degrading, moronic, and sociopathic manifestation of idiocy that religion has inflicted on the world. Any person who would marry another person, a supposed "bond for life", without fully exploring their sexual compatibility, is clearly insane. Then again, if they're not doing it because they think it will please their invisible angry sky man, then the fact that they're insane pretty much goes without saying.
