When you are forced to attend a gay wedding in YOUR church, then you can have a problem. If a gay couple marries at the Courthouse and is given a LEGAL (not religious) document giving them the protection that all heterosexual married couples have- this has zero affect on the institution of marriage. And in regards to those stating this country was founded on biblical principals......I beg to differ. The Constitution forms a secular document, and nowhere does it appeal to God, Christianity, Jesus, or any supreme being. The omission of God in the Constitution did not come out of forgetfulness, but rather out of the Founding Fathers purposeful intentions to keep government separate from religion. And gee, look at this 1st Amendment listed in the Constitution: Congress shall make NO law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Moreover, the mentioning of God in the Declaration of Independence does not describe the personal God of Christianity. Thomas Jefferson who held deist beliefs, wrote the majority of the Declaration. The Declaration describes "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God." This nature's view of God agrees with deist philosophy and might even appeal to those of pantheistical beliefs, but any attempt to use the Declaration as a support for Christianity will fail for this reason alone. No law should be made based on religious beliefs, period. This is America- a free country.....and not everyone is Christian. Maybe he just had trouble with relationships period and it had nothing to do with his orientation. POSTED BY: BARNABUS ______________ I seriously doubt if Robert Reed was even close to being the warm, patient, and understanding man the character Mike Brady was. Sadly actors RARELY resemble the characters they play in real life. Henry Fonda, for example was 180 degrees the exact opposite of the warm hearted soft spoken character he often portrayed in his movies. Look at any tabloid when you go to the store or just read the entertainment section of ANY news website. Hollywood is a VERY sick and screwed up population. I therefore deeply disagree with Susan Olsen that Reed would have been a wonderful "husband" if gay marriage were allowed in the 70s. And since Robert Reed died of AIDS, I am ALSO convinced he lived a VERY promiscuous life with wall to wall gay lovers which is how he REALLY contracted the disease. He played one of the greatest TV dads of all time, hopefully he was like that in real life, patient and understanding.
