Kim Kardashian arrived at a Los Angeles courthouse bright and early today to face her ex, Kris Humphries, for a mandatory settlement conference in her divorce case. But there was one big snag: Humphries was a no-show.
“I can’t believe the respondent [Humphries] didn’t show up today,” Kardashian’s attorney Laura Wasser told People Magazine after the hearing ended.
Humphries’ failure to appear in court could spell big trouble for the basketball player. The Court, on its own motion, set the matter for an Order to Show Cause regarding Sanctions that may be imposed against him.
An Order to Show Cause is a type of court order that requires the party to justify something to the court – in this case, Humphries’ absence at today’s proceedings.
A hearing on the sanctions is scheduled for April 19.
Kardashian, 32, who is expecting a baby with rapper Kanye West, looked demure in a gray jacket, white pants and a sleek ponytail. She waited quietly while the judge asked the media to leave the courtroom before the proceedings began. The mandatory settlement conference is a meeting between all parties to determine whether a settlement can be reached before the case goes to trial.

It has been an acrimonious few months for the former couple: Kardashian wants to divorce Humphries, but the Brooklyn Nets forward, 28, wants the marriage annulled, alleging fraud. He believes Kardashian used him for fame.
The two famously wed during a televised wedding ceremony Aug. 20, 2011, that reportedly cost $10 million, but a mere 72 days later, Kardashian confirmed the two were divorcing.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” she said in a statement released by her publicist. “I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”
Humphries, however, countered with his own statement, saying, “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents,” he added. “I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”
The two never reconciled and have been at odds ever since.
The judge set a date of May 6 for the trial to begin.

They need to end this already. The divorce is taking longer than what the marriage lasted, if you don’t know the person who you are marriage then you shouldn’t walk down the aisle. They are both at fault and just sign the paper now.

He was probably WORKING – something I do not believe she does. He is a professional basketball player so he may have been with his team doing his job.
