Like most dads, David Beckham is in charge of the television remote at home - that is, of course, unless the kids are in the room.

"I'm in control of the remote, unless one of the boys is in the room, then that's a different story. But they know daddy is in control of the remote!" the 38-year-old retired soccer player told British magazine Heat.

Beckham is father to four kids, Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 10, Cruz, 8, and 2-year-old daughter Harper.

When the kids aren't watching their shows, Beckham revealed that he and his equally famous wife Victoria Beckham like to curl up and watch comedies, including "Modern Family" and the American version of "The Office."

As for sports, he said he likes watching tennis, golf and basketball. "But most of the time, I'm watching the football, of course," he said, referring to the English version of football.

Answering a series of questions for the British publication, Beckham also revealed that he prefers Jay-Z over One Direction.

"One Direction are great," he said, "but obviously I'm a huge Jay-Z fan."

Now back in his native London, Beckham told Heat that he's enjoying spending time with his family.

"[I like] the simple things like going round to my grandma's, going round to my mum and dad's house, [and] seeing my sisters."
