Bride's Big Day Interrupted By Beach Boys Sound Check

ABC News' Linsey Davis reports:

Mark Kent and Jaime Diadiun had been anticipating their wedding date since they got engaged seven months ago. But when their big day arrived on Aug. 4, it didn't exactly turn out as planned.

"The boat went by and the minister kind of worked it into his sermon and said, 'You know, interruptions are going to happen in your marriage,' so it was a funny touch," Jaime told ABC News.

Risks are certainly involved when choosing an outdoor wedding venue along the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland, but what followed at the concert hall next door, the Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica, changed the whole tenor of the day.

The bride and groom were interrupted by the legendary band The Beach Boys.

"During the ceremony they were performing sound checks," said Mark. "They were performing 'God Only Knows.' They probably couldn't have picked a better song for the ceremony."

If anyone could upstage a bride at her own wedding, the band had unwittingly done just that.

"It couldn't have been more perfect," said The Beach Boys lead singer, Mike Love. "We felt a little awkward about it, making a lot of noise during their wedding, so we invited the whole wedding party to our concert."

When Jaime heard the news, she and her aunts rushed over to take advantage of the free invite and before they knew it, they were up on stage with the band Jaime loved from childhood.

"We didn't think about it, we just did it because that's what you do," said band member Bruce Johnston. "You just do stuff in the moment."

"Create some 'Good Vibrations,'" added Love. "Have some 'Fun, Fun, Fun.'"

And the bride did have plenty of fun, grabbing a tambourine and making herself at home on stage with the band.

"I was up dancing," said Jaime, "And I was like, 'Oh, a tambourine! So I grabbed one and I was just shaking it."

All the fun, however, was unfortunately missed by her husband Mark, who was back at the wedding partying with his groomsmen, although the couple did say there is now no question as to what their special song will be.

"I think this is a good excuse to make The Beach Boys' 'God Only Knows' the official song of our relationship," said Mark.
