Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green each lost an artist Tuesday night on “The Voice.”
Josh Logan of Team Christina and Air Force veteran Jonny Gray of Team Cee Lo were both sent home. They were joined in the bottom three by Kat Robichaud, who earned a reprieve thanks to the viewers.
For the first time in series history, “The Voice” staged what it called the “Instant Save.” Here’s how it worked: after the bottom three were revealed, fans were given five minutes to tweet the hashtag #VoiceSave along with the first name of their favorite artist who was in danger of elimination. The contestant who received the most mentions on Twitter during that time would be saved. That turned out to be Robichaud.
Christina and Cee Lo each have only two artists remaining on his or her team. The other two coaches, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, each have three.
The night’s musical guest was Sara Bareilles, who performed her song “Brave” with Team Cee Lo’s Caroline Pennell and Kat Robichaud, Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee, and Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin.
In addition, Cee Lo and his artists collaborated on a rendition of The B-52′s “Roam”; Team Adam covered The Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night”; and the male artists performed “We’re an American Band” by Grand Funk Railroad.
The top 10 will take the stage next Monday night on NBC.
