Elisabeth Moss Says Fred Armisen Marriage Was 'Awful,' 'Horrible'

Elisabeth Moss, 31, bares her body and thoughts for the March 10 issue of New York Magazine. Moss is all smiles on the cover of the magazine, but she tells the magazine that her short-lived nuptial to Fred Armisen, 47, was anything but happy. The "Mad Men" star is gearing up for the show's return April 17, but took some time to discuss her "extremely traumatic" marriage.

"Looking back, I feel like I was really young, and at the time I didn't think that I was that young," Moss tells the magazine. "It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible."

While Moss's first marriage didn't turn out exactly how she wanted it to, or even close, she still manages to find the bright side to all of it: The fact that she's still young and has plenty of time ahead of her.

"At the same time, it turned out for the best. I'm glad that I'm not there. I'm glad that it didn't happen when I was 50. I'm glad I didn't have kids. And I got that out of the way. Hopefully. Like, that's probably not going to happen again."

Moss and Armisen married in October 2009 in Long Island City, N.Y. and filed for divorce in September 2010, which got finalized in May 2011. The time between when they got married and when they asked for a divorce was less than a year, but, still, Moss reveals "it sucks" to have had tabloids talking about her divorce and her feelings.

"I always knew that the stuff that you read is not true, but when I was in the situation and you really, actually read things that you apparently said or did that are 100 percent made up … It's just the strange, simple thing of, that's your heart they're talking about, and it just … it sucks."
