Michael Strahan's Top 5 Reasons He's Excited to Join 'GMA'

He has to wake up a couple hours earlier as a new member of the " Good Morning America" family, but Michael Strahan described himself as "floating" on his first official day on the show.

"I'm so happy to be here, so thank you. And good morning, America," Strahan said today from his spot at the "GMA" news desk in the show's Times Square studio. "I love being here."

That early-morning, wake-up call was just one of the top five reasons Strahan, 42, said he's excited to join "GMA." He began with a countdown from number five.

5) Wait, GMA? I thought I was getting Barbara's seat on "The View"!

4) My favorite songs are "Happy" and "Let It Go."

3) Why wake up at 5 a.m. when I can wake up at 3 a.m.?

2) It's fun to say "Stephanopoulos."

And the number one reason why Strahan said he's excited about coming to "GMA"?

"I like playing for yet another winning team," said Strahan, a Super Bowl champ who played 15 seasons in the NFL and was elected to the league's Hall of Fame this year.

Robin Roberts made note of Strahan's athletic prowess, joking, "America, our company softball team just got a whole lot better."

Strahan said he was basking in the love of his new colleagues.

"Is this love fest every day? Because I could get used to this," Strahan said.

Before he left "GMA" to head uptown to co-host "Live! With Kelly & Michael," Strahan left his new colleagues with a sweet treat.

"I've teamed up with Candace Nelson, the owner of Sprinkles Cupcakes to create my own ice cream flavor," Strahan said, while giving everyone a sample. "It's called Mom and Michael's Masterpiece Mix. It's got vanilla ice cream with caramel, chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate chips and butter cake pieces on top, just like my mom used to make."

All proceeds from sales of the ice cream between now and May 31 will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The ice cream is available online and at Sprinkles Cupcakes stores nationwide.
