Matt Damon is not surprised by his close pal George Clooney's engagement news.

"Anyone who has met Amal [Alamuddin] isn't surprised," Damon told People magazine at Saturday's Planes of Fame Air Show in Chino, Calif., where he was joined by his wife Luciana and Clooney's other close friends, Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber.

"We're all really excited for him," Damon said.

The 52-year-old actor got engaged to the 36-year-old British lawyer at the end of last month.

Days after Clooney popped the question, Alamuddin was seen flashing a seven-carat stunner, reportedly designed by her fiance.
